Title:	Unit dose formulations and methods of treating thrombosis with an oral factor Xa inhibitor
Abstract:	Unit doses of factor Xa inhibitor compounds and methods of using these compounds for inhibiting blood coagulation in a human patient are taught herein. The unit dose of the factor Xa inhibitor compounds disclosed herein required to inhibit coagulation in a primate is lower than the unit dose required to obtain similar levels of coagulation inhibition in other animal models, such as rodents. Also taught are in vitro assays useful in predicting in vivo antithrombotic activity in humans.

Patent Claims:	1. A method of inhibiting coagulation in a human patient in need thereof, comprising administering to the patient once a day, a coagulation inhibiting amount of a compound of Formula II: ##STR00027## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the coagulation inhibiting amount of the compound is between about 0.4 and about 1.2 mg/kg. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the compound is a maleate salt. 3. A unit dose formulation comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a daily amount of a compound of Formula II: ##STR00028## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the daily amount of the compound is between about 30 and 80 mg, and wherein the unit dose formulation is for inhibiting coagulation in a human patient. 4. The unit dose formulation of claim 3, wherein the daily amount of the compound is 30 mg. 5. The unit dose formulation of claim 3, wherein the daily amount of the compound is 80 mg.
