Summary for Patent: 9,849,199
Title:Composition and method for medical imaging of body cavities
Abstract: The invention pertains to a foamed aqueous image enhancing composition containing cellulose and/or cellulose derivative(s), said composition having a pH between 5.5 and 7, wherein the viscosity of the composition is less than 1800 mPasec, and wherein a gas is maintained in the composition for at least 1 minute after preparation. The combination of low viscosity and foam stability makes the composition particularly suitable in patency tests and fallopian tube sterilization checks.

Application Number:15/041,580
Patent Claims: 1. An echolucent image enhancing gel composition having a pH between 5.5 and 7 and a viscosity less than 1800 mPas as determined by standard viscosity determination methods, measured at room temperature and under atmospheric pressure, wherein the composition turns echogenic when foamed; and wherein the composition is non-embryotoxic.

2. The image enhancing composition according to claim 1, having a viscosity of less than 1000 mPas.

3. The image enhancing composition according to claim 1, having a viscosity of at least 15 mPas.

4. The image enhancing composition according to claim 1, further comprising glycerine and a buffer.

5. The image enhancing composition according to claim 1, comprising a cellulose and/or a cellulose derivative.

6. A foamed echogenic image enhancing composition having a pH between 5.5 and 7 and a viscosity less than 1800 mPas as determined by standard viscosity determination methods, measured at room temperature and under atmospheric pressure, wherein the composition is non-embryotoxic.

7. The image enhancing composition according to claim 3, wherein a gas is maintained in the composition for at least 1 minute after initiating foaming.

8. The image enhancing composition according to claim 1, wherein the viscosity is determined using a Brookfield rotational viscometer.

9. A kit comprising 1-10 ml of an echolucent image enhancing composition having a pH between 5.5 and 7 and a viscosity less than 1800 mPas as determined by standard viscosity determination methods, measured at room temperature and under atmospheric pressure; wherein the composition turns echogenic when foamed; and wherein the composition is non-embryotoxic.

10. The kit according to claim 9, wherein the 1-10 ml of the image enhancing composition is contained in a first syringe.

11. The kit according to claim 9, further comprising instructions to pump a gas into the image enhancing composition to obtain a echogenic foamed image enhancing composition.

12. The kit according to claim 11, wherein the gas is air.

13. The kit according to claim 9, further comprising a second syringe.

14. The kit according to claim 13, further comprising instructions to pump a gas into the image enhancing composition using the second syringe to obtain a echogenic foamed image enhancing composition.

15. The kit according to claim 14, wherein the gas is air.

16. The kit according to according to claim 9, the image enhancing composition has a viscosity of at least 15 mPas.

17. The kit according to claim 9, wherein the viscosity is determined using a Brookfield rotational viscometer.
