Summary for Patent: 7,744,886
Title: | Methods for interfering with rank signaling |
Abstract: | Disclosed herein are methods for interfering with RANK signaling by administering blocking antibodies that bind a RANKL polypeptide and inhibit the binding of the RANKL polypeptide to a RANK polypeptide. |
Inventor(s): | Anderson; Dirk M (Port Townsend, WA) |
Assignee: | Immunex Corporation (Thousand Oaks, CA) |
Application Number: | 12/214,914 |
Patent Claims: | 1. A method of interfering with RANK signaling comprising administering an effective amount of a blocking antibody, wherein the blocking antibody binds to a human RANKL polypeptide as
shown in SEQ ID NO:13 and inhibits the binding of the human RANKL polypeptide to a human RANK polypeptide as shown in SEQ ID NO:6, thereby inhibiting RANK signaling.
2. A method of claim 1, wherein the blocking antibody is a monoclonal antibody. 3. A method of interfering with RANK signaling comprising administering an effective amount of a blocking antibody, wherein the blocking antibody binds to a fragment of a human RANKL polypeptide as shown in SEQ ID NO:13 and inhibits the binding of the human RANKL polypeptide to a human RANK polypeptide as shown in SEQ ID NO:6, thereby inhibiting RANK signaling, wherein the fragment is selected from the group consisting of a) an extracellular domain comprising amino acids 69-317 of SEQ ID NO:13, and b) a receptor binding domain comprising amino acids 162-317 of SEQ ID NO:13. 4. A method of claim 3, wherein the blocking antibody is a monoclonal antibody. |
