Patent Claims: 1. A method of treating pain in a human subject weighing at least 50 kg comprising: administering to the subject an intravenous acetaminophen formulation comprising about 650 mg of acetaminophen; and repeating the administration of the intravenous acetaminophen formulation every four hours; wherein the subject receives a maximum daily dose of less than 4000 mg of acetaminophen per day.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein intravenous acetaminophen formulation is a sterile solution.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the intravenous acetaminophen formulation is administered to the subject over about 5 minutes to about 30 minutes.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the intravenous acetaminophen formulation is administered to the subject over about 15 minutes.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the subject is suffering from acute pain.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the subject is suffering from postoperative pain.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the intravenous acetaminophen formulation is a lyophilized powder that is reconstituted prior to administration to the subject.

8. A method of treating fever in a human subject weighing at least 50 kg comprising: administering to the subject an intravenous acetaminophen formulation comprising about 650 mg of acetaminophen; and repeating the administration of the intravenous acetaminophen formulation every four hours; wherein the subject receives a maximum daily dose of less than 4000 mg of acetaminophen per day.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein intravenous acetaminophen formulation is a sterile solution.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein the intravenous acetaminophen formulation is administered to the subject over about 5 minutes to about 30 minutes.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein the intravenous acetaminophen formulation is administered to the subject over about 15 minutes.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein the intravenous acetaminophen formulation is a lyophilized powder that is reconstituted prior to administration to the subject.
