Abstract:Chewable medicament tablets are made from coated rotogranules of a medicament wherein the rotogranules are formed from a granulation mixture of medicament, e.g. ibuprofen, polyvinylpyrrolidone, sodium starch glycolate and sodium lauryl sulfate and the rotogranules are coated with hydroxyethyl cellulose or a mixture of hydroxyethyl cellulose and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and a process for making such tablets and a method of providing taste masking of medicaments utilizing such coated rotogranules in a tablet.

Patent Claims: 1. A granulation composition comprising from about 84.0 to about 96.5% medicament, from about 2.0 to about 10% polyvinylpyrrolidone, from about 1.0 to about 4.0% sodium starch glycolate and from about 0.5 to about 2.0% sodium lauryl sulfate, by weight of the total weight of the granulation composition wherein the granulation composition is coated with hydroxyethylcellulose or a mixture of hydroxyethylcellulose ad hydroxypropylmethylcelulose.

2. The granulation composition of claim 1 wherein the granulation composition is formed by rotogranulation and the individual granulation compositions are substantially spherical in shape.

3. A granulation composition comprising from about 84.0 to about 96.5% ibuprofen, from about 2.0 to about 10.0% polyvinylpyrrolidone, from about 1.0 to about 4.0% sodium starch glycolate, and from about 0.5 to about 2.0% sodium lauryl sulfate, by weight of the total weight of the granulation composition wherein the granulation composition is coated with hydroxyethylcellulose or a mixture of hydroxyethylcellulose and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose.

4. The granulation composition of claim 3 wherein the granulation composition is formed by rotogranulation and the individual granulation compositions are substantially spherical in shape.
