Patent Claims: 1. A pharmaceutical composition which comprises: 1) pioglitazone or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof; 2) glimepiride; and 3) a physiologically acceptable carrier.

2. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1, which is in an oral dosage form.

3. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1, which is in the form of a tablet.

4. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1, which comprises pioglitazone or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof at the oral dose range from 0.05 to 5 mg/kg body weight.

5. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1, which is for administration at the frequency of 1 to 3 times a day.

6. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1, which comprises: 1) pioglitazone or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof; 2) glimepiride; 3) an excipient; 4) a disintegrator; 5) a binder; and 6) a lubricant.

7. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 6, wherein the excipient is lactose.

8. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 6, wherein the binder is hydroxypropylcellulose.

9. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 6, wherein the lubricant is magnesium stearate.

10. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 6, which is manufactured by adding the excipient, the disintegrator, the binder and the lubricant to pioglitazone or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof and glimepiride; and then compressing the resultant.
