Patent Claims: |
1. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound 1-[2-(2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperazine or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof,
and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent.
2. A method for the treatment of an affective disorder in an animal, comprising administering to said animal an amount of the composition of claim 1 comprising a therapeutically effective amount of said compound. 3. The method of claim 2 wherein said animal is a human. 4. The method of claim 2 wherein said affective disorder is depression. 5. The method of claim 4 wherein said animal is a human. 6. The method of claim 2 wherein said affective disorder is an anxiety disorder. 7. The method of claim 6 wherein said animal is a human. 8. The method of claim 6 wherein said anxiety disorder is general anxiety disorder or panic disorder. 9. The method of claim 8 wherein said animal is a human. 10. The method of claim 2 wherein said affective disorder is obsessive compulsive disorder. 11. The method of claim 10 wherein said animal is a human. 12. A method for the treatment of an affective disorder in an animal, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of the compound 1-[-2-[2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperazine or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof to said animal. 13. The method of claim 12 wherein said animal is a human. 14. The method of claim 12 wherein said affective disorder is depression. 15. The method of claim 14 wherein said animal is a human. 16. The method of claim 12 wherein said affective disorder is an anxiety disorder. 17. The method of claim 16 wherein said animal is a human. 18. The method of claim 16 wherein said anxiety disorder is general anxiety disorder or panic disorder. 19. The method of claim 18 wherein said animal is a human. 20. The method of claim 12 wherein said affective disorder is obsessive compulsive disorder. 21. The method of claim 20 wherein said animal is a human. |
