Title:	Methods for treating antipsychotic-induced weight gain
Abstract:	The present invention relates to the discovery of a novel opioid modulator effective in reducing pharmacologically induced weight gain associated with atypical antipsychotic use. The present invention provides methods of reducing antipsychotic induced weight gain, methods for suppressing food intake and reducing ghrelin levels induced by atypical antipsychotic medications in a patient.

Patent Claims:	1. A method of reducing antipsychotic induced weight gain comprising administering to a patient in need of treatment an effective amount of a compound of formula: ##STR00022## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; wherein said antipsychotic is olanzapine. 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein said compound of formula: ##STR00023## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; is administered in a daily dose of about 3 to about 30 mg/day. 3. The method of claim 2, wherein said daily dose is administered orally. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the patient has gained about 5% body weight within a period of one week from starting said atypical antipsychotic treatment. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the patient within a year of atypical antipsychotic treatment has gained about 5% body weight.
